Duke-Carolina Alumni Clash In Golf

The 3rd annual Carlyle Cup Team Championship will be held October 29-31 at Pinehurst, pitting alumni and fans of both schools against each other in a two-day, Ryder Cup format. Forty alumni fans from each school will play famed Pinehurst No. 2 on Monday, October 30, and then tackle Pinehurst No. 4 on Monday. Each school will have 20 two-man teams, with each better-ball match worth 3 points (front, back and overall). UNC Director of Golf Johnny Cake is the non-playing captain of the Carolina Alumni, and Dennis Satyshur, the former Duke football palyer and golfer who is the head pro at Cave's Valley in Maryland, is captain of the Blue Devil squad. Carolina won the first Carlyle Cup in 2004, and Duke came back to win last year. The event is sponsored by Carlyle & Co. jewelers, Pinehurst Resort and Nike.
